Ambrosio Lopez is a digital artist and former architect whose journey into the world of art began with an early fascination for the Greek concept of aisthetike—the sensory perception of beauty. Captivated by images that felt “magical,” Lopez embraced art as a means of experiencing and expressing wonder.

Over time, his artistic practice has evolved to encompass sculpture, photography, and digital mediums, fueled by a vivid imagination that he nurtures as one would train the body. With a mature, open, and critical perspective, Lopez delves into the complexities of reality, challenging conventional truths and uncovering hidden dimensions of existence. Guided by creativity and the surreal world of dreams, his work reflects a profound exploration of perception and artistic expression.

I conceive art as an instrument of analysis of the human being from new perspectives.

The individual possesses a magnetic attraction that hypnotizes me, it forces me to observe him in all his facets: flesh, bones and blood, movement, laughter, silence, screams... Each individual is mysteriously different from the others, and attracts my attention to make me smile or to disgust me. I feel the need to materialize the sparks I capture from him.

My works are often born from a dream, they really appear in it as part of a story. Others are fleeting visions, isolated, an instant before waking up, or they cross the brain at high speed, almost impossible to catch, during a walk with a lost mind. Their origin gives them an enigmatic and sometimes surreal character. The raw material I use is mostly composed of my own drawings and photographs, that I later compose and mould using graphic design programs.

I am obsessed with the level of detail and the perfection of the finish. My immediate goal is to explore the expressive possibilities offered by digital painting, impossible in other media: transparent or translucent supports, glitter and textures, multi-layered supports, translucent paints, mobile, etc.
