With a background in industrial design, Mee Ha has explored diverse fields, including product, brand, and UX design. Through her journey, she realized that design thinking—the ability to approach problems fluidly and intuitively—is fundamental. While delving deeper into this concept, she discovered that human thoughts flow like liquid, forming the foundation for everything we create. From houses and cars to clothes and smartphones, all objects originate from thoughts that adapt, evolve, and take shape over time.
This realization led her to explore the fluidity of ideas through her art. Fascinated by the nature of liquid materials, she began reimagining objects integral to modern life as liquids. Her project, Liquid City, focuses on objects that represent urban living, combining advanced digital technology with handcrafted techniques to portray fragments of contemporary life.
Each object in Liquid City carries multiple layers of meaning. While the same item may serve different purposes for different people, others reflect shifting cultural contexts over time. To capture these nuances, Ha incorporates transparent phrases into her work, using materials reminiscent of water. Initially invisible, the messages reveal themselves under light, offering viewers a subtle interplay of humor, cultural commentary, and deeper reflections. She refers to these inscriptions as “delicate graffiti,” embedding messages that elevate each object’s narrative and connection to the world.

[LIQUID WORLD]
The world we live in is fluid, shaped by ideas that flow, mix, and transform like water. Everything around us—objects, systems, and societies—originated from thoughts, evolving over time. Phones shrink and become smarter, cars transform into intelligent machines, and houses shift from mere shelters to expressions of identity. These changes reflect the dynamic and adaptable nature of ideas.
Designers play a unique role in this liquid world, shaping and molding these ever-shifting concepts into forms that enhance life. Like water taking the shape of its container, ideas adapt to their context, ready to blend, evolve, and create anew. Recognizing this fluidity inspires innovation and keeps us attuned to the rhythm of change, reminding us that nothing is static, and everything flows forward.
[DAILY LIFE]
Liquid City represents the essence of modern living, composed of things integral to daily life—items that shape convenience, culture, and connection. These are the essentials of contemporary life, things that, in their absence, would create noticeable discomfort.
Liquid City’s landscape includes smart products that enhance efficiency, versatile clothing that blends analog charm with modern practicality, casual yet high-quality food shared in meaningful moments, and objects that celebrate beauty and style, fostering self-expression. These elements define the rhythm of our relationships and the comfort of our routines, making life not only functional but also rich in texture and meaning.
The ten items in Liquid City are a mirror of modernity, embodying how people live, connect, and express themselves today. And, like all things in this metaphorical world, they are fluid—adaptive, evolving, and essential.
[SUBTLE GRAFFITI]
Liquid City embodies the spirit of contemporary graffiti—raw, impactful, and deeply connected to the social fabric of the present. Like graffiti, it transcends simple expression, combining satire, metaphor, philosophy, and art into concise, memorable statements.
Each of the ten contemporary objects in Liquid City carries short, bold phrases, reflecting the social context of our era. These phrases range from satirical to playful, yet all resonate with the complexities of modern life. They are written with bold brushstrokes, exuding raw energy, yet remain transparent, blending seamlessly into the object’s original design. The subtle interplay of light reveals their depth, encouraging reflection without overshadowing the underlying form.
Graffiti thrives on immediacy, leaving an indelible mark in fleeting moments. Similarly, Liquid City captures the essence of now—its satire, vibrancy, and philosophy—translating it into a form that is both art and commentary. It is modern graffiti reimagined, not on walls, but on the essential items of contemporary life.
