Sofija Grabuloska (b. 1981, Prilep, Macedonia) is a multidisciplinary artist known for her innovative spatial drawing sculptures and exploration of 3D printing in contemporary art. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje with a degree in sculpture (2006) and completed her master’s in sculpture and 3D printing (2015).

Grabuloska’s work delves into the dynamic dialogue between space, material, and sound, reflecting a deep interest in neomaterialism and post-digital aesthetics. Her practice often blurs the boundaries between the physical and the immaterial, integrating sound as a visual element. Since 1998, she has collaborated with Bogdan Grabuloski Bonac and Violeta Blazeska, creating works that dematerialize and re-materialize sound through visual and sculptural forms.

She has exhibited internationally, including "Sound is a Visual Element" at the Macedonian Cultural Information Center in New York (2022). Grabuloska is also the president of the Art Education Centre Ohrid and an active contributor to the renewal and leadership of the Association of Fine Artists of Prilep.

Her work reflects an ongoing fascination with the convergence of technology, art, and the ephemeral, shaping new artistic expressions that resonate beyond traditional forms.

Invisible Realms explores the intersection of traditional and digital art through abstract drawing.

Created with acrylic on paus – a transparent material – the work highlights the dynamic interplay between light, surface, and texture. The paus allows the pieces to “breathe,” shifting fluidly between opacity and transparency.

Natural elements, such as algae collected from Ohrid Lake, replace traditional brushes, infusing the drawings with raw, intuitive energy. The monochromatic palette, dominated by black, generates striking contrasts and momentum.

AI-generated video, inspired by and extracted from the drawing, accompany sequences of binary code derived from the artworks' visual language. This code, created by mathematician Mirjana Trompeska, adds another layer of meaning and interaction.

By scanning the original drawing with the Artivive app, viewers can experience the projection of AI and binary code videos directly on the physical artwork. This augmented reality (AR) presentation deepens the relationship between the material and the immaterial, reflecting on neomaterialism and the evolving dialogue between artistic gesture and technological transformation.

How to Experience the Work:

1. Install the Artivive app.

2. Look for images marked with the Artivive icon.

3. View the image through your smartphone to unlock the full experience.

This project transforms the convergence of art, technology, and space, inviting viewers to engage with the tension between the tangible and the ephemeral.
