Tom Day

@tomday_art

 Tom Day is a digital and traditional painter based in Rogers, Arkansas. His work explores intersection of consumerism, wealth, and Christian Nationalism, stylistically drawing inspiration from living artists like Sam Spratt, Alexis Franklin, and Kehinde Wiley.

Born and raised in Indianapolis, Day began his artistic journey at home, using crayons to bring his scribbly figural drawings to life. He later went on to study at Herron School of Art and Design where he earned his BFA in painting. During this time, he was influenced by his ministry at Arsenal Technical High School. It was there where Day first began to see America’s social inequity and its place in his developing work.

Tom has exhibited his work in New Jersey, Utah, Indiana, Ohio, and Arkansas, including shows at the HCA, Clara Arts, and PAR-Projects.

Currently, he is particularly interested in the intersections of Christian Nationalism, commercial consumerism, and American class struggle.

My work delves into the complexities of societal issues through a unique perspective. With a focus on examining racism from a privileged standpoint and critiquing toxic Christianity and consumerism, Day uses both digital and traditional media to create paintings that blend realism with expressive elements, inviting viewers to confront uncomfortable truths within our contemporary world.
